Visual Arts

Faculty Overview

Visual Arts is a mandatory subject in years 7 and 8 (Stage 4).

Students wishing to further their knowledge and skills can choose to study Visual Arts as an elective subject in years 9 and 10 (Stage 5).

Visual Arts candidates for the HSC are also required to attempt the HCS written examination.  

We also offer Content Endorsed Courses in Photography, Video and Digital Media (2 Unit and 1 Unit), Visual Design (1 Unit), and Ceramics (1 Unit) in years 11 and 12.

 

Exhibitions

Students are encouraged to exhibit their artworks. We have two annual exhibitions, the Creative Arts HSC Exhibition and Concert (term 3) and the Visual Arts Junior Exhibition (term 4). Students are also encouraged to enter local and DET initiated art making competitions.

Excursions

The Visuals Arts Department regularly coordinates excursions that are complimentary to our programs throughout Stages 4, 5 and 6. Excursions to the Art Gallery of NSW for ArtExpress and the Archibald Prize are annual excusions included in our programs.  Excursions to local sites, such as Coogee Beach and Wylie’s Baths are also incorporated to support our programs and community awareness.
