Mathematics

Junior Syllabus

Classes are graded in Mathematics. Students attend mathematics lessons in classes not based on their core class

This allows the Mathematics faculty to extend and accelerate the most able students, to continue to develop the middle ranking students and to remediate and consolidate students experiencing difficulties.

All students cover work (at varying degrees of depth) set by the syllabus in Number, Patterns and Algebra, Data, Measurement, Space and Geometry and Working Mathematically.

Senior Syllabus

In year 11 students may study General Mathematics, Mathematics or Extension 1 Mathematics. There are usually two graded classes at each level Students are counseled into the appropriate course based on their results in mathematics in years 7 to 10.

In year 12 students may study General Mathematics, Mathematics, Extension 1 Mathematics or Extension 2 Mathematics. There is usually one class for each of the higher levels and two (or more) for the lower levels. Entry to these classes is based on results obtained in year 11.
