Modern Languages

At Randwick Boys’ High School we believe very strongly in the full development of boys’ all-round capabilities, few Key Learning Areas offer as much scope for the fuller development of cognitive abilities and communication skills as the KLA of Modern Languages.

Randwick Boys’ High School is exceptional among boys’ high schools in the number of foreign languages on offer. Four languages are taught here: French, Italian, Japanese and Modern Greek.

Boys are also offered the opportunity to study other languages, such as Mandarin, Russian, Vietnamese and Korean through the Open High School or the Saturday School of Community Languages

Excursions

Boys are offered the possibility of travel to countries where their chosen language is spoken.

In September 2005, boys in Year 10 and Year 11 Italian went to Italy where they spent three weeks with Italian host families in Rome and attending school before spending their last week travelling to Florence and Venice.

They also visited Pompeii, Ostia, the Roman Hills and Assisi. In the past, students have travelled to Greece as well as Perugia, Italy.
