Social Science

Geography, Commerce, Business Studies and Economics cover a range of issues, building on students’ current affairs knowledge. It is important for students to read newspapers, watch current affairs programs and discuss current issues with family and friends.

Excursions are often offered to visit important social/political institutions and natural environments.
Whilst a broad assessment outline is provided, this may be subject to change related to competitions or assessment of student needs.

Geography is compulsory from years 7 to 10 . It is a yearly course in years 7 and 8 (Stage 4), and is semesterised with History in years 9 and 10 (Stage 5).

Commerce is an elective subject, taught in Years 9 and 10 (Stage 4). A unit of Commerce is taught at the end of year 7 and year 8 on consumer choice as a taster, and also to provide general consumer protection education for students.
