Gifted and Talented Students
Some students have particular talents and abilities. These may be in literacy, in numeracy, in the arts, in areas of technology or sport or any of the many areas of school life. Randwick Boys’ High School is committed to identifying and promoting giftedness and talent among its students. As a comprehensive high school, we attract students from across the entire range of abilities, including those of the very highest academic calibre.
At Randwick Boys’ High School, our aim is to ensure all students flourish in a stimulating and challenging learning environment, where learning opportunities are differentiated to cater for each boy’s needs, talents and abilities.
The Gifted and Talented Coordinator has responsibility for maintaining staff focus on Gifted and Talented Education. Teachers are provided with a identification checklist to assist them in identifying gifted and talented students. Curriculum programs are required to provide opportunities to enrich and challenge gifted students to think creatively and develop deeper knowledge and understanding.
Regular opportunities for Professional Learning provide staff with opportunities to learn more about latest research and methodology in the identification and education of gifted and talented students. The school allocated resources in its planning to enhance the learning of gifted and talented students.
In addition to the curriculum initiatives that the school develops, students are encouraged to participate in a range of extra-curricula activities that promote the development of their talents. These include
